The level 3 Award is a specialist qualification for those working in or with the London Market. It helps you gain a broad understanding of the insurance process and practice across the London Market, and a detailed understanding of technical topics.
Designed in consultation with London Market practitioners, the Award in London Market Insurance provides an essential grounding for new entrants to the market, or those who have dealings with it.
The Award in London Market Insurance comprises two core units:
London Market Insurance Essentials (LM1) - 10 CII credits
London Market Insurance Principles and Practices (LM2) - 15 CII credits
These provide a total of 25 CII credits (Certificate level) on successful completion. These credits can be used towards further CII qualifications.
For units in this qualification, students typically have access to the following materials as part of their enrolment:
Study text (printed and/or digital) with digital updates
RevisionMate online study support, including end of chapter tests
Exam guide containing a practice exam and guidance
Assessment entry

Study text - developed to assist you in understanding and learning the exam syllabus, the study text breaks down the syllabus into concise sections, with each chapter containing clearly defined outcomes and a series of self-test questions. Access to RevisionMate during your enrolment period.
Exam entry - exams can be booked after purchase via your MyCII dashboard. Included in Enrolment Plus (if available for the unit): study text, exam entry and additional revision aids. Included in Assessment Only (if available for the unit): exam entry only. See additional information for further details.
Additional information for Personal Lines units (PL1-PL4) and selected non-UK units
Enrolments include a digital course as well as study text and assessment entry. The digital course is an interactive course covering the content of the unit syllabus and includes lots of additional features over the study text, such as videos, animations, infographics, illustrations and self-test questions. This is available via RevisionMate and access is only available during your enrolment period (internet connection required; course can only be accessed using a web browser and not via the RevisionMate app).
Additional information for mixed assessment units
Coursework assignments - the coursework assignment is submitted online via Revisionmate. For mixed assessment units, study is based on an 18- month enrolment period from the date of purchase. A combination of a single coursework assignment must be passed within the first six months and an MCQ exam passed within 18 months. Question Packs
Delivered online through RevisionMate, a question pack contains between 150 and 300 questions (depending on the unit) and provides comprehensive, flexible and interactive self-testing of the unit syllabus. Question feedback is provided in the form of a chapter reference to the specific areas being tested in the official CII study text for this unit. Access to the question pack is only available during your enrolment period. Question packs are not past papers.
Learn Online Tutorial
Delivered via RevisionMate, this online tutorial provides interactive study, backed by an assessment tool to check understanding as you progress with your studies. This is designed to complement, not replace, the primary study text. It provides visually engaging and therefore memorable learning. It covers key and difficult topics only, not the entire syllabus. Audio Revision
Audio revision aids provide an ideal way to reinforce the learning from the study text. They cover the key elements of each subject and last around 3-5 hours, depending on the subject. Produced by The Patterson Group. Audio downloads are accessed via RevisionMate. Access is only available during your enrolment period but downloaded files will never expire.
Video Revision
Delivered through RevisionMate, you will have access to the content via a structured programme over the course of the 2-week revision period between fact-find release and the exam date. The online delivery dates of the material will be made available on RevisionMate 2 weeks prior to the exam date. Any downloaded video files will never expire.
