The objective of this unit is to provide an understanding of the principles and practices of private medical insurance (PMI) and the ability to apply this knowledge to practical situations.
Private Medical Insurance Practice (P64) provides knowledge and understanding of the relationship between public and private medical provision. It considers private medical insurance products and principles, pricing and underwriting, claims and policy administration, legislation, regulation and distribution.
The study text starts by looking at the background to health insurance and why people and businesses might want PMI cover. Then it examines the UK market, its products and principles. PMI is also available internationally to expatriates and this and other health insurance products are compared to UK PMI.
